Designing What’s Next in Healthcare: May Architecture at HCD 2025

November 7, 2025

May Architecture proudly joined the 2025 Healthcare Design Conference + Expo where the future of healthcare spaces took center stage. Representing our team were Emily Marvel Stallings, Dawn Mixon Bennett, and Christopher Upton, who connected with national leaders to explore how design can drive better outcomes across the care continuum.

Hosted at the Kansas City Convention Center, HCD 2025 brought together architects, healthcare executives, and innovators to discuss the evolving challenges and opportunities reshaping healthcare delivery. Top themes included:

  • Outpatient & Ambulatory Growth: As systems shift care outside the hospital, design must balance efficiency, flexibility, and experience.
  • Behavioral Health & Equity: Purpose-driven environments are critical to improving access and dignity in care.
  • Resilience & Sustainability: The demand for adaptable, high-performing spaces is rising—along with expectations for staff well-being and operational continuity.
  • Future-Ready Infrastructure: With AI, biotech, and digital care evolving rapidly, the built environment must be ready to adapt.

These conversations reflect the very challenges May Architecture is solving every day through bold thinking, strategic collaboration, and design that empowers both people and performance.

We return from HCD 2025 energized and aligned, ready to keep shaping healthcare spaces that deliver lasting impact.
