Georgia Tech HR Progressive Workplace
Centralizing Campus Services Into a Flexible Workplace
Located on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus, this project renovates the Human Resources Building into a centralized hub for human resources and administrative services. The facility will support the institution’s learning mission by providing services like employee onboarding, multipurpose ID cards, technology provisioning, and job search resources.
The plan integrates three distinct programs within one building while maintaining clear separation between public and employee zones. A reimagined two-story lobby creates a more intuitive arrival and strengthens visual connection between levels through enhanced sightlines and daylight. The layout prioritizes natural light and views by leveraging existing perimeter windows and skylights, pairing central community spaces with storefront glazing at offices and meeting rooms to distribute daylight across the floor.
Workspaces are designed as a progressive, flexible environment with open workstations, phone booths, small and large meeting rooms, and reservable solo offices and flex rooms. A large multi-function plaza/break area supports daily use and events. Room scheduling software enables online booking via personal devices, coordinated with door-mounted screens that display real-time room status and availability.
Design moments, such as an acoustical rail ceiling system, acoustical wall accents, and layered accent lighting, add warmth, improved acoustics, and a cohesive experience across both public and staff environments.
