Emory Behavioral Health Patient Care Building
Transforming Space to Support Behavioral Health
This renovation converts an entire three-story existing hospital campus building to a new behavioral health patient care building. Emory Healthcare engaged the May Architecture team to relocate, consolidate, and expand their behavioral health services. The renovation converts a vacant building to provide two floors with a combined 36 behavioral health inpatient beds, including 3 seclusion rooms. The ground floor of the building is dedicated to outpatient behavioral health spaces, including a neuromodulation clinic and procedure suite.
While major interior renovation was required to meet healthcare regulations and provide for the needs of behavioral health patients, the completed project will also have addressed major repair and upgrades to the existing exterior building envelope, replacement of a non-operational elevator, and significant upgrades for the building infrastructure throughout.
