Behavioral Health Access Reimagined

March 12, 2025

As behavioral health needs rise nationwide, healthcare systems are under growing pressure to deliver faster, more sustainable, and patient-centered solutions. This March, May Architecture joined that critical conversation at the 2025 ASHE Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) Summit, hosted in Atlanta by the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE).

ASHE, a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association, brings together leaders in healthcare planning, design, construction, and operations to advance best practices and explore innovations shaping the future of care delivery.

At this year’s summit, Principal Emily Marvel Stallings, AIA, ACHA, was on hand to discuss how healthcare systems can rethink underutilized spaces to meet urgent behavioral health needs. The session highlighted practical strategies for accelerating access while enhancing dignity, flexibility, and long-term impact – all key priorities at the heart of our healthcare design approach.

With our healthcare design team in attendance, May Architecture reaffirmed our commitment to shaping environments that not only respond to the moment but also anticipate the future.

Because for us, healthcare design is about building better care.
