UGA Tate Student Center Dining Renovations
A New Concept for Student Dining
Well known for award-winning dining excellence, The University of Georgia’s Dining Services manages on-campus board and retail dining for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. In 2017, May Architecture was awarded design and construction observation services for an 8,700sf renovation at UGA’s Tate Student Center retail food court.
Three retail food concepts were added to the renovated space: Chick-fil-a, Panda Express, and Niche Pizza Co. – a new 1,500 sf hearth oven pizza concept developed by UGA Dining Services. May Architecture’s design for Niche Pizza includes back of house support with a walk-in freezer, as well as the open kitchen and gas-fired pizza oven. Finishes feature a reclaimed wood service counter contrasted by shining new tile, and specialty lighting. Construction was completed through a very aggressive schedule during UGA’s winter and summer break.
